Hi Stevie - I quite fancy getting fit and have always liked the look of kickboxing or karate - but would a slightly overweight, mostly unfit 39 year old be welcome or laughed at?!

Cheers

Everyone welcome. I have people from the age of 9 up to 40+. It is better if you can bring a partner as we work in pairs normally, but not a problem. You only do what you can manage....if for instance i asked for 50 pressups and you can only do 10, that fine, or you cant do a type of kick, then you do something else. It not a problem. Maybe see you there 1 night!

Cheers

Mac - by all means have a stab at the Thai boxing. However you might want to investigate other martial arts clubs in the lothians - there are plenty to choose from.
I'm into kickboxing and freestyle karate. If I was 49 I'd strongly consider kung fu, as its great for posture and flexibility but also teaches meditation, and of course wicked self-defence.
I used to attend a great class made up of mostly middle aged guys, but gave up to concentrate on kick boxing. Have a wee look here: http://www.kungfuclub.co.uk/
It's pretty demanding but a lot of fun.

Thanks for the Kung-Fu link - I'll look into that. (mid-life crisis? What mid-life crisis?)

Well that's me just started the sign-up for beginners starting in May! Way hey!

Good Idea At The Time Situation... Best look out some loose fitting trousers or leesure wear. Oh, I don't have any leesure wear. Or trainers.

And I think I have a sniffle coming on.
